The retreat of kings
Situated halfway between the Capua area and the Aversano countryside, the San Tammaro hamlet can be traced back to the arrival in the area of the North African bishop Tammaro, who came to Campania following the persecution of the Vandals between 439 and 440. A 12th-century church of the same name is dedicated to him.
San Tammaro is famous for having been chosen by the Royal House of Bourbons as the location for one of their many residences, the Royal Estate of Carditello, which was then used for hunting, wheat cultivation, the production of dairy products and the breeding of prestigious horse breeds.
