The Museum where history comes to life
Archaeology, Risorgimento, banditry, environment and composite civil identities take shape in the rooms of this innovative museum in which history is interpreted by the voices and images of its protagonists, which materialise on the screens by opening drawers and doors of “talking” cabinets.
History of the Museum
Housed in Palazzo Brando, near the Town Hall, the Civic Multimedia Museum of Padula was built in 2014 based on a project by Fabrizio Mangoni.
Heritage
Through innovative multimedia material, the museum gives life, in each room, to a virtual exploration of the territory and the millennial history of Padula and the Vallo di Diano, from prehistory to the nineteenth century, right up to the Unification of Italy.
In the last room on the upper floor, a virtual imaginary process invites guests to participate and interact: the protagonist, the accused, is Carlo Pisacane, the hero and guide of the 1857 Sapri Expedition. Ending tragically between Padula and Sanza, this revolutionary enterprise should have led, at least as planned, to the liberation of political prisoners from the Bourbon prison of Ponza, with the aim of triggering a revolt on the mainland.
